Demolition, site work, remodeling and renovation of a mixed-use development in Crane Naval Depot, Indiana. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
The project objective at the Naval Support Activity (NSA) Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Building 4 Residential Area, will be to: • Install approximately 5,487-linear feet of new water line and install new associated fire hydrants, valves, service lines, and appurtenances. • Plug and abandon the existing 8-inch cast iron and 6-inch asbestos cement water lines in place. • Install a new valve vault at Water Tower 1. The design will consider all existing wet utilities, dry utilities, roads, and railroad crossings that will become obstacles within the linear scope of work. The design will also include reconnection details for all existing service lines. Barge Design Solutions (Barge) took over design responsibilities from the previous engineer. Project documentation was provided including existing conditions CAD data, proposed pipeline CAD data, meeting minutes, records of previous submittal comments, site photos, and survey data documenting potential utility conflicts at selected excavated locations (potholes).
