Renovation of a library in Newbury, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a library.

**As of June 12, 2024 this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established. Seeking sealed bids from qualified contractors for a Standby Generator for the Town Library, located at 0 Lunt St., Byfield, MA. Contractor Qualification Required for DCAMM contracts over $150,000, Highway Division contracts over $50,000. Estimated Construction Cost: $80,000 Detailed Scope of Work: 1. Provide standby generator system with integral load bank and accessories for complete and operable system. Obtain, deliver and install (1) 100 kW 120/208V, 3-phase natural gas fueled generator. 2. Obtain, deliver and install (1) 600-amp nonservice entrance rated 208V 3-phase transfer switch. 3. Coordinate location of the generator with the Town of Newbury Facilities Manager. 4. Identify and mark all underground utility lines in the area of the generator installation. 5. The contractor is responsible for securing all necessary permits, electrical and gas, as required. 6. The contractor will be responsible for coordinating with National Grid, the installation and connection of all external and internal natural gas lines. Backfilling of all natural gas line trenches will also be coordinated with National Grid. 7. The contractor will restore/build all landscaping and stonewalls impacted by the aspects of the generator installation. 8. The generator will be set on an eight (8) inch reinforced concrete pad as a minimum. Pad thickness will be adjusted to meet manufacture’s specification. The generator will be secured to the pad in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications. 9. Provide a new complete generator set comparable to Caterpillar, Cummins, Generic or Kohler. 10. Ground and bond generator complying with all code requirements. 11. Install emergency power service conductors from transfer switch to the generator. 12. Install control wiring from the transfer switch to the generator. 13. Separate grounds and neutrals and alter grounding. 14. The generator shall meet all applicable state and federal emissions regulations including EPA emissions levels in effect at the time of installation. 15. Contractor shall provide and install complete cold-weather kit including block heater and appropriate battery. 16. Contractor shall provide the Town of Newbury’s Facilities Manager with the manufacturer’s and contractor’s warranty and service information. 17. Contractor shall train Town of Newbury’s Facilities Management staff on the operation and maintenance of the generator set and controls. 18. A routine/regular weekly start-run testing schedule shall be established to accommodate library hours of operation.
