The Royals Athletic Center (formerly Lindbergh Center) is jointly owned and operated by the City of Minnetonka and the Hopkins School District. The facility has five regulation basketball courts, seven volleyball courts, walking & jogging track and an exercise and conditioning room. Designated hours for community use of the Royals Athletic Center provide residents the opportunity to maintain overall fitness. Recreation Services operates evening adult and youth leagues/programming in the facility after 6:30pm. Due to the Hopkins School District capital bond referendum, the renovation of certain items may be completed at different times than expected. The city will still adhere to its funding schedule. Projects are regularly put into the CIP to spread the cost of maintenance and equipment replacement over a number of years rather than expending a large amount at one time. The city would be responsible for 29% of the following improvements: 2024: Replace walk/run track flooring 2025: Main bleacher replacement 2026: Replace basketball court floors 2027: Replace basket/curtain lifts, sound system, lighting 2028: Install ceiling suspended volleyball standards The project is included in the City's 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of May 21, 2024, per owner, the project is currently being considered a "non-funded" project.
