RFQ's from qualified design and engineering firms with extensive experience in traffic safety design and engineering for the development of a comprehensive safety action plan. The City is committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all road users, and have received funding from the Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Planning and Demonstration Grant to develop an action plan well-defined strategies to prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries within our City limits. The City will be heavily engaged with the selected consultant throughout all portions of these listed components to achieve the vision of developing a safety action plan. June 10, 2024 Last Day to Answer Questions and Final Addendum Release The City of Blue is facing pressing roadway safety challenges that demand immediate attention. The connectivity to major highways such as I-71 to the east, I-275 to the north, and Ronald Reagan/Cross County Highway (SR-126) to the south can be viewed as a double-edged sword when it comes to traffic safety. On one hand, this connectivity provides convenient access to regional transportation networks, allowing residents, businesses, and visitors to easily travel to and from Blue Ash. On the other hand, the increased accessibility and traffic volume leads to higher congestion levels, especially during peak travel times. Congestion increases the risk of crashes, as traffic flow becomes slower and more erratic. The merging of vehicles from different directions, lane changes, and interchanges introduce potential conflict points and increases the likelihood of collisions. Furthermore, the presence of major highways near Blue Ash attracts throughtraffic or heavy commercial vehicles passing through the area. These vehicles, often traveling at higher speeds, can pose a safety risk to local residents and other road users. The purpose of this request for qualifications (RFQ) is to select the most qualified consultant for the design and engineering of a comprehensive safety action plan. In developing the comprehensive Safety Action Plan, the consultants will utilize past City of Blue Ash safety studies along with the objectives outlined within the Scope of Work. In the interest of expediting the selection process, the consultant firm should submit a proposal for the cost of design/engineering work in a separate, sealed envelope. The proposals will not be opened until the City has short-listed all Statement of Qualifications. Interviews of the short-listed consultants will take place if the City deems them necessary July 11, 2024 Council and Recommendation of Contract. Potential Council Award.
