The cross-border jetty and the international jetty were built in the early 2000s. Uninterruptible power supply units (UPS) are aging. The useful life of this equipment has passed and it is currently very difficult to find replacement parts. Most UPS are Eaton's brand names. Eaton's has published an End of Service Life (EOSL) on these UPS models and are no longer supported as of 2019. Replacement parts for these units are becoming less and less available. These units feed all of ADM's critical systems (multi-partner IT, ADM network switches, broadcast system, access control network and camera surveillance, etc.) throughout the cross-border jetty. At present, there are 37 UPS units that are no longer supported by the manufacturer and for which replacement parts are difficult to obtain. ADM Maintenance wants to make the gradual replacement of the CHWs strategically, as many CHWs have recently replaced batteries. Batteries represent a significant cost of equipment. This project affects the 12 UPS units that date back to the early 2000s, but have batteries dating back to before 2019. The remaining units will be part of another D1090X series project by 2026. Over the years, ADM's standards have evolved in order to have more resilience in terms of service interruptions. Currently, the UPS power supply is not redundant, which means that it does not come from two separate electrical sources and is therefore vulnerable in the event of a breakdown or major maintenance on the electrical network.
