Site work for a water / sewer project in Val Marie, Saskatchewan. Design plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
Contract Number: WSA-2024-25OE-0003 Construction of a new spillway related appurtenances such as a riparian outlet, a fishway, and general site infrastructure upgrades. *Conceptual design was completed by Hatch Ltd. The best option for the replacement structure: - 6-bay concrete service spillway controlled with radial gates; - Constructed downstream and offset east from the existing service spillway, thus allowing a) the existing service spillway to pass flows during construction, and b) the existing dam embankment to act as a cofferdam during construction; - Eliminate the emergency earth spillway by filling it in and raising the embankment in that area to correspond with TOD (805.4 masl); - IDF was based on the CDA Recommended Minimum Flood Hazard Level for the Risk Informed Approach and was set as the 2475-year flood event and a required service spillway capacity of 780 m3/s. TIMELINE: Project is in design. Tender and construction is planned for 2026-2028. Project schedules may be confirmed fall/late 2025. *Budget is unreleased.
