Name of Proposer/Artist: Placzek Studios *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The City of Palm Beach Gardens is in search of an artist to design, fabricate, and install art to be placed in the lake located at the southeast corner of North Military Trail and Burns Road on the Burns Road Community Centersite under its Art in Public Places Program. The proposed project is intended to incorporate artwork that isspecifically located within and compatible with the lake setting. The Burns Road Community Center is located at 4404 Burns Road, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and consists of a 43,114-s.f. building that includes two gymnasiums, a dance room, an art room, an auditorium, locker rooms, and offices for the Recreation Department's administrative staff. The building was originally constructed in 1983 and later expanded in 2006. It directly adjoins the City's Aquatic Complex and the City's Lakeside Center facility. The Burns Road Community Center is currently undergoing a major renovation and expansion project, including the refurbishment of the existing gymnasiums and locker room. The remainder of the facility is being demolished and rebuilt as a modern, two-story facility with a wellness studio, three multipurpose rooms, one toddler activity classroom, two dedicated art studios, community lobby and social space, dedicated space for cultural arts programs, restrooms, and staff offices. This construction project is expected to be completed in Spring 2025. The selected artist shall design artwork that can be viewed from several different vantage points. The art should be conceptually unique and reflective of a theme consistent with the City's values, the Community Center's context, and the intended audience. The proposed project shall also be compatible with the existing art piece known as Winged Heart, located in the Compassionate Friends Memorial Garden plaza area that is adjacent to the lake. The total not-to-exceed budget for this art project is $400,000.00. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time. This budget includes all costs associated with the project, including artist fees, all materials, lighting of the project, fabrication, transportation, on-site project management, installation, installation equipment, engineering fees, insurance fees, all artist travel costs to the site after selection, and any other costs associated with the art commission.
