**As of August 28, 2024 project was awarded to PK Songer Plumbing for $466,100. The project starts 10/15/24 completion is 12/31/25. Bids will be opened on July 16, 2024 at 3pm. The Ulster County Fairgrounds in the Town of New Paltz has an existing NC-Non-community transient water treatment system (NY5517594) that needs to be replaced. The existing water treatment plant (WTP) provides treated water for the entire fairground area and the office area via wells, a chlorine disinfection system, a 4,200-gallon storage tank, and booster pumps. The existing control system automates well function and booster pumps to provide water pressure for the fairground. The water system provides approximately 3,901 gallons per day (gpd) on average and 34,000 gpd during the peak months, i.e., July, August, and September. A maximum daily flow of 34,000 gpd was recorded based on the received water readings from 2017 to 2019. The proposed system will consist of a chlorine disinfection system, three 2,000-gallon tanks, two booster pumps, two 340-gallon bladder tanks, and a control system to distribute potable water throughout the fairground. The existing concrete block building will be expanded to house the proposed treatment system. Well #1, located below grade in the existing WTP, and Well #2, located 135 feet northeast of the existing WTP, will be providing water to the system. Both well pumps will be replaced with appropriate new pumps. The casing of Well #1 will be brought above grade in accordance with the NYSDOH Drinking Water Regulations.
