Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Lewiston, Maine. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
The work for the MONTELLO STREET PAVING AND SIDEWALKS REHABILITATION shall consist of, but not be limited to, furnishing and installing (except as noted) all materials labor and equipment necessary to resurface or rehabilitate streets or roads as listed, including: utility cover adjustments; water gate box lowering and raising, tack coat, shim, and overlay; driveway preparation and lawn and driveway restoration; pavement removal, common excavation, aggregate base gravel; erosion control, traffic control and cleanup. Questions and Requests for Information shall be submitted to Justin Bisson (jbisson@lewistonmaine.gov) on or before noon, June 20, 2024. Questions and RFIs will be responded to via email to potential bidders on the Plan Holders List and those registered with the City Purchasing Department for this project. Interested bidders must register with the Purchasing Agent either through direct response to the City's RFP solicitation at mryerson@lewistonmaine.gov or by contacting the Purchasing Agent Allen Ward at 207-513-3040 or award@lewistonmaine.gov to be added to the bidders list. No Proposal will be considered unless it is accompanied by a bid security in the form of a bid bond or certified check in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid price, made out in favor of the City of Lewiston. All bid securities will be released upon deliverance of a signed Contract or, if no Contract award is made, within forty-five (45) days after the opening of the Proposals, unless forfeited as herein stipulated. A Performance Bond and a Labor and Material Payment Bond, preferably executed on AIA Bond Form Number A311, in an amount equal to the total Contract price, of a surety company satisfactory to the Purchasing Agent, will be required of the successful bidder to ensure completion of the work and the proper fulfillment of the conditions of the Contract. The total Contract price shall mean the total bid price as stated in the Proposal based on the estimated quantities of the various items of work. The work for the MONTELLO STREET PAVING AND SIDEWALKS REHABILITATION shall consist of, but not be limited to, furnishing and installing (except as noted) all materials labor and equipment necessary to resurface or rehabilitate streets or roads as listed, including: utility cover adjustments; water gate box lowering and raising, tack coat, shim, and overlay; driveway preparation and lawn and driveway restoration; pavement removal, common excavation, aggregate base gravel; erosion control, traffic control, and cleanup. SCOPE OF WORK Paving Montello Street, from East Avenue to Stanley Street: Scope: Lower and plate all manholes and water gates to prep for milling. Mill entire roadway from East Avenue to Stanley Street at a depth of approximately 2". Place a layer of 9.5 mm HMA Shim across entire roadway. Adjust structures to final grade. Place slip-form concrete curb along northern side of Montello Street beginning approximately 50' from Thornscraig entrance and heading 500' west. Prep driveway entrances. Pave 1.5" of 12.5 mm HMA Surface. Perform driveway apron paving as necessary. Sidewalks Montello Street, Old Greene Road to Montello School Walking Trail: Scope: Remove all pavement from existing sidewalks from Old Greene Road to Montello School Walking Trail. Remove existing granite curb. Box cut 6" of existing gravel and replace with 6" of new MDOT 1 1/2 " Type A Gravel, replacing existing curb with new slip-form concrete curb. Ensure all curb ramps meet ADA Standards, and install detectable warning plates. Pave all remaining sidewalk areas with 2" of 9.5 mm HMA in one lift. Perform lawn repair as needed.
