The purpose of the project is to replace approximately 4,000 linear feet of old, unlined cast iron water mains with new 6" C.L.D.I. water main including new valves and hydrants. Water services will be reconnected to the new water main and new copper extended to new curbstops. The existing main will be abandoned in place with all abandoned main capped, all valves closed, and all valve boxes removed. Each proposal submitted must be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond, made payable to the Bethpage Water District, in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the total amount of the bid, as a commitment by the bidder that, if its bid is accepted, it will enter into a contract to perform the work and will execute such further security as may be required for the faithful performance of the contract. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive any informalities and to accept such bid which, in the opinion of the Owner, is in the best interests of the Owner. The Contractor shall furnish a Performance Bond, Labor and Materials Bond, and a one (1) year Maintenance Bond each in an amount equal to one hundred (100%) percent of the total contract price as security for its faithful performance of this contract, for the payment of all persons performing labor or furnishing materials in connection with this contract. Such bonds shall also cover any penalties, interest charges and assessments levied by any governmental unit for failure to comply with laws and/or regulations governing public work. The Maintenance Bond shall be an assurance that all work and materials provided under this contract shall be maintained for a period of one (1) year following final completion, and payment under the contract. The contractor shall be required to furnish all guarantees and warranties of manufacturers of products in connection with this contract, but no manufacturer's limitation of time shall act to limit the responsibility of the contractor or its surety hereunder.
