.1 The University of Alberta Utilities Department (UA Utilities) is seeking a qualified contractor to complete the installation of a fully functional, tested and verified new fire alarm system in the University’s Cooling Plant as per the attached drawings and specifications. The successful Proponent is not be required to attain Prime Contractor status for the purposes of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Alberta), and for the purposes of the Work of this contract. .2 The Cooling Plant Fire Alarm upgrade includes but not limited to the following: .1 Installation, testing and making fully functional all fire alarm system components; .2 Supply, install and make fully functional all new components as per drawings and specifications including but not limited to new conduit and wire for the new devices; .3 Fire stopping of new and existing penetrations as required by the Alberta Building Code; .4 Removal of existing sprinkler system in the DeltaV room; and .5 Removal of existing forced flow unit heater and supply and installation of new cabinet force flow unit heater as per drawings and specifications. .3 Not included in this scope of work is the following: .1 Removal of the existing fire alarm system components, except where specifically noted otherwise on drawings. .2 Purchase of simplex fire alarm system components including panels, NAC extenders, horn/strobes, detectors, linear heat detection wire. This will be supplied by the University of Alberta, fire and life safety group.
