Renovation of an educational facility in Santa Cruz, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
The base scope of work shall focus on the Cowell Dining Hall roof, with an alternate scope of work encompassing the Stevenson Event Center roof. The project will involve providing all necessary setup, equipment, labor, and materials to install new roofing systems as specified The base scope of work shall focus on the Cowell Dining Hall roof, with an alternate scope of work encompassing the Stevenson Event Center roof. Safety measures, including building perimeter safety barriers per Cal-OSHA and all applicable standards, will be established, and safe passageways to building entrances will be provided as required by Division 1. The existing roofing, underlayment, and accessories will be removed in accordance with section 024119.13 Selective Building Demolition, including all associated flashings and metal projections. Reference to section 028300 will be made for lead remediation. The removal of existing gutters and downspouts will also be part of the scope, The work specified in section 061000 Rough Carpentry will be performed, including the replacement of damaged plywood decking as outlined in unit price #1 and the replacement of fascia if damaged fascia is discovered, as specified in unit price #2. A manufacturer-approved batten system will be installed, followed by the installation of new underlayment and a roofing system in accordance with section 073020 Concrete Roof Tiles. New gutters, downspouts, and sheet metal waterproofing will be provided in line with section 071500 Sheet Metal Waterproofing, with all sheet metal being either stainless steel or Kynar coated as specified. Sealant will be applied to the skylight as specified in section 080181 Maintenance of Glass Glazing Contractor guarantees and manufacturer warranties will be provided as specified in the listed sections. Testing and commissioning of the complete installed equipment and systems will be conducted. Special care will be taken regarding utility shutdowns and tie-ins to existing campus utilities to minimize the impact on campus operations. Additionally, attention will be given to preserving existing grades and trees, with appropriate measures implemented during construction. Overall site coordination with adjacent facilities will be maintained, ensuring continued operations in these facilities throughout all construction phases. Requests for clarification or interpretation of the Bidding Documents shall be received no later than 5:00 PM on Thursday, June 20, 2024, and addressed only to Steven Irie University of California, Santa Cruz Physical Planning.
