The City of Ames is accepting bids from qualified vendors for the removal of 16 art pillars on 5th Street in Ames for the Public Works Department. Work is to be completed on or before September 1, 2024. All responses must be submitted before the deadline. No late responses will be reviewed. No bidder may withdraw their bid for at least sixty (60) days after the scheduled closing time for receiving bids. The intent of the project is to salvage the terra cotta art inserts located within the art pillars. Demolition methods that meet the salvage goal shall be utilized. Where pillars are surrounded by concrete sidewalks, demolition shall include the removal of the pillars a minimum of 5 inches below the concrete sidewalk surface and new jointed, stained concrete installed.
