Renovation of a mixed-use development in Baltimore, Maryland. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 8,219-square-foot, two-story above grade educational facility.
As of September 24, 2024, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for the award has not yet been established. A. The Work of Project is defined by the Contract Documents and consists of the following:This window and door project will provide full replacement of all the existing windows and doors in the building. The existing doors, windows and frames are from a 2000 renovation of the school, and are past their useful life. The request is to replace all 8,219 square feet of existing windows with new pre-finished aluminum windows/frames and hardware, and all exterior doorswith FRP doors, pre-finished aluminum frames and hardware, all in the existing masonry openings. The work shall meet City Schools' design standards regarding security, energy efficiency and maximum clarity of the combination thermal and security glazing. The windows at grade level shall be protected by security screening. Interior and exterior walls, including sills and lintels, shall be repaired where damaged near windows, and new window shades installed at all windows. Replacing the windows will provide a watertight environment for learning as well as increasing the buildings insulation values for thermal comfort. Exterior doors should be designed to be connected to a central monitoring system with new door contacts and wiring, an audible local alarm, and speakers with a push to talk feature, to support City Schools' security initiative. The improved glazing is inhibiting cellular signals inside the building, so a distributed antenna system (das) for the building should also be designed as part of this project, following the district technology standards.
