District Asphalt Seal Coating, Sealing and Painting. Scope of Work Accepting bids for HVAC Services. Gurley Gillette Wyoming 82716 Phone 307-682-2750 Prior to application of seal coating, the surface shall be clean and free from dust, dirt, or other loose or foreign matter, grease, oil, or surface film, weeds, grass, and organic matter. All debris must be removed from the school property and disposed of properly by the contractor. Any oil and grease spots shall be scraped and sealed using an oil spot primer approved by the seal coat manufacturer. Any wet areas or standing water must be dried and thoroughly cleaned before applying the coat. The surface shall be cleaned by power brooming, hand brooming or employment of high velocity air blowers. Any movable objects such as splash blocks, parking curbs, bike racks, etc. shall be removed prior to applying the sealant and replaced after the completion of the application. Any stationary objects shall be protected to prevent the sealant from covering them, including but not limited to, buildings, fences, light posts, sidewalks and playground equipment. UNLESS APPROVED BY OWNER. Any over spray is the responsibility of the contractor and must be cleaned off. Any damage incurred to the asphalt or other school district property is the responsibility of the contractor. The contractor shall control the traffic on the sealed areas until the coating are fully cured. All work must be guaranteed for one year. CRACK SEALING AND ROUTING Cracks shall be mechanically routed and cleaned with compressed air immediately ahead of placing the crack sealant. Cracks shall be free of dust, dirt, moisture weeds, grass, organic matter or other materials that might prevent bonding of the sealant. Cracks sealing shall be accomplished only when the weather conditions are dry. The ambient air and pavement temperature shall be at least fifty degree Fahrenheit (50F). The crack sealer shall be composed of a mixture of materials that will form a resilient and adhesive seal that conforms to ASTM D1191. The equipment used to apply hot poured elastic type crack sealant shall be capable of heating the elastic type sealant to three-hundred degrees Fahrenheit (300 F) minimum and three hundred ninety degrees Fahrenheit (390 F) maximum and shall a positive means to keep the elastic type sealant agitated and thoroughly mixed using sealing activities. The equipment shall also have a minimum melting capacity of one-hundred gallon per hour (100 gallon/hour). Additional sealant may be added to the mixing tank as long as the manufacturer=s recommended minimum temperature is maintained. The equipment used for cold poured crack sealant shall be pour bucket or pressured pot. Cracks deeper than 1" should be backfilled with a suitable material to 3/4" to 1" inch depth. Dust the newly applied sealant with sand after formation of the surface membrane to reduce tracking. Cracks shall be checked by the CONTRACTOR after the sealant has dried to determine if a second application will be required. Cracks shall be MECHANICLY routed before sealing, to insure proper bonding is achieved. The cracks shall be sealed from the bottom up and shall be filled completely. The sealant shall be applied until it is slightly above the surface for asphalt pavement and the sealant shall then be smoothed tightly against the surface with a "U" shaped metal or rubber squeegee. The width of sealant band on the pavement surface over the crack shall not exceed approximately two inches (2") after it has been squeegee. Traffic shall be kept off the freshly sealed cracks until the sealant has cured or has been sanded with blotter material to prevent tracking. A seven (7) day waiting period will be required between completion of crack sealing and the application of seal coat to allow the sealant ample time to set up. Any damage incurred to the asphalt or other school district property is the responsibility of the contractor. The contractor shall control the traffic on the sealed areas until the job is fully cured. All work must be guaranteed for one year.
