WORK DESCRIPTION A. It is the intent of this Specification to provide a complete, electrical substation, ready for service. Minor items and details may not be fully addressed by this Specification, but shall be included by the Contractor. B. The Work of this project will take place on a parcel of property that is currently owned by the OWNER and is adjacent to the existing Northland Substation. The project site is presently a paved parking lot. C. This project will replace the existing Northland Substation. The work will progress in five phases: 1. Phase 1 - Removal of existing pavement, site grading, installation of foundations, oil containment system, manholes, ductbank, conduit, ground grid, fence and surfacing 2. Phase 2 - Connection of Owner furnished power transformers and switchgear and switchgear to riser poles/existing underground, including medium and low voltage cabling, splicing and terminations 3. Phase 3 - Cut over distribution load to new switchgear 4. Phase 4 - Demolition and disposal of existing Northland Substation and resurfacing 5. Phase 5 - Complete any remaining work and closeout the project D. Contractor shall be completely familiar with and be experienced in all aspects of Electrical Substation civil and electrical installation and construction, and shall ascertain the scope of the work from the Specifications and Drawings. It shall be the responsibility of Contractor to become familiar with the equipment being furnished by OWNER. Failure of Contractor to correctly interpret the scope of work necessary to properly install or connect the equipment furnished by OWNER will not be considered as the basis of claim for extra compensation.
