Improvement includes the reconstruction of six (6) adjacent alley locations with Green Infrastructure improvements, consisting of: pavement removal, Hot-Mix Asphalt (HMA) surface removal, concrete curb removal, sidewalk removal, earth excavation, aggregate base course construction, P.C. concrete alley paving, combination concrete curb and gutter, P.C. concrete sidewalk, permeable paver block installation, HMA binder and surface course paving, HMA pavement patching, pavement markings, and all other appurtenant construction. At all times during the construction of this project, the roadways and alleys shall be kept accessible to emergency traffic. 1. The Contractor is advised that many of the existing utilities are old and tend to be fragile. The Contractor's selection of equipment and proposed construction methods should take into consideration the need to protect all existing utilities. The Contractor will be responsible for costs to repair the utilities damaged by the Contractor's equipment or construction methods, as determined by the Engineer. No additional compensation will be allowed for difficulties or delays caused by utility conflicts. 2. The Contractor shall schedule his work to minimize the length of time in which the subgrade is exposed to rain events. At no time shall the Contractor have more than two (2) alley blocks of subgrade exposed. 3. The Engineer will furnish construction layout for this project. The Contractor shall furnish all construction layout materials required by the Engineer. The Contractor shall have competent personnel on site to perform necessary horizontal alignment and vertical grade checking.
