Reference Number 0000356195 La Plata County is seeking bids from qualified Contractors for an asphalt mill and overlay of 4.4 miles of roadway on County Road 240 from approximately mile marker 5.1 to mile marker 9.5. La Plata County (County) is accepting bids from qualified Contractors for an asphalt mill and overlay of 4.4 miles of roadway on County Road 240 from approximately mile marker 5.1 to mile marker 9.5 (refer to the Bid Sheet for actual bid quantities). The full length of roadway will be milled to a depth of two (2) inches with the exception of a 1,600-foot segment at the Edgemont Highlands intersection (no mill). This is to be followed by two (2x) lifts of asphalt paving, two (2) inches thick each, except at the Edgemont Highlands intersection which is to receive one (1x) lift. The existing road width averages thirty (30) feet wide with variable width gravel shoulders, including auxiliary acceleration lanes and turning pockets. All striping and lane markings shall be surveyed for accurate replacement. Intersecting county roads shall be paved a minimum of eighteen (18) feet back from radii. Shoulders shall be reconstructed. Asphalt pavement aprons at all driveways and private drives are to be included at two (2) feet deep by two (2) inches single lift. There are approximately twenty-three (23) aprons with an average length of sixty (60) feet. Road base failure if encountered shall be repaired prior to paving. Traffic control will consist of single-lane traffic and shall include a pilot car. Temporary centerline striping shall be completed at the end of each working day.
