Type of solicitation: Construction DBE opportunity: Waived The intent of this invitation to bid is to obtain field services to affect the repair, restoration and/or replacement of traffic control signs and their support and mounting hardware for the schools outlined in these provisions. The work shall consist of the furnishing and installation of the sign types and mounting hardware as specified in the Plan set and directed by a representative of the Department of Public Works. The vendor shall visit the sites specified in the Sign Assessments and install or replace the signs and/or the mounting supports as needed. New signage shall be installed on existing timber poles where applicable. Where no suitable pole is found, aluminum U-channel posts shall be installed at the designated locations. When it is discovered that a sign listed in the Sign Assessments has already been addressed by City forces, no work shall be performed, and that sign shall be eliminated from the contract. All legends on new signs furnished shall be as specified in Standard Highway Signs, Latest Edition, published by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration. All signs shall follow MUTCD specifications for school zone signage. The signs shall be composed of Highintensity grade reflective vinyl sheeting and transparent electronically cuttable vinyl film mounted on the specified size 0.080-gauge aluminum sign blank. The U-channel pole shall be galvanized steel and 12 feet in length. The quoted bid price for each item shall include all labor, materials, mounting hardware, brackets and any other items or elements needed to accomplish the sign restoration. All signs, supports and mounting hardware furnished by the vendor shall become property of the City of New Orleans. Any existing sign that is retained from its existing mounting component and remounted to its original position and/or orientation shall be considered installed and shall be paid at the contract unit price r each for the removal and remounting of an existing sign on an added support. Any existing mounting component (signpost) that is retained and reset to its original position and/or ientation shall be paid at the contract unit price per each for the resetting of an existing signpost. rnished signs shall be bid by the square foot and shall be paid at the applicable contract unit price r square foot. The installation of the furnished sign shall fall under the install line item and shall beaid per each.
