Disclaimer: IN ORDER FOR YOUR BID TO BE CONSIDERED A LEGAL BONAFIDE BIDDER ON THE PROJECT, DOCUMENTS MUST BE PURCHASED FROM REMINGTON, VERNICK ENGINEERS DIRECTLY 2024 Road Improvement Program - Phase 2 The work for this project includes, but it not necessarily limited to the following major work items: a. The existing road milled to a depth of 2" and overlay with new 9.5M64 hot mix asphalt surface course. b. Reset utility castings, including inlets, sanitary manholes and storm manholes. Reset water and gas valve boxes as needed within the limit of the project as detailed on the plans. c. Remove and replace existing concrete curbs and sidewalks, including locations at and around curb ramps as indicated on the plans or directed by the engineer and/or inspector in the field. Install header curb where indicated on the plans. The contractor shall coordinate grade elevations with a Remington & Vernick Engineer and/or inspector in the field. d. Existing curb ramps shall be replaced with ADA compliant curb ramps with approved truncated domes. e. Replacement of inlet heads and grates as shown on the plans. f. Replacement of pipe as shown on the plans. g. Replacement of concrete driveway aprons as shown on the plans. h. Replacement of concrete curb as shown on the plans. i. Replacement of pavers with 4" thick concrete sidewalk on West Clinton Avenue as shown on the plans. (No milling or paving on West Clinton Avenue) j. Replace all existing traffic striping and markings in kind and as specified per the plans. k. Restore all disturbed areas in kind in the same condition or better prior to commencing improvements. This shall include topsoiling, seeding, sodding and fertilizing. l. The contractor is responsible for the location of all utilities and to schedule all work involved with utilities. Any cost related to this coordination shall be included in the various items in the proposal. m. All related incidental work, including but not limited to, maintenance and protection of traffic, dust control, soil erosion and cleaning and restoration. n. Contractors will be responsible for on-site safety and shall provide a qualified on-site safety appointee at all times, for the duration of the project. The Borough of Bergenfield reserves the right to consider the bids for sixty (60) days after the receipt thereof, and further reserves the right to reject any or all bids, either in whole or in part and also to waive any informality in any and make such awards or take action as may be in the best interest of the Borough of Bergenfield, in accordance with applicable law. Bids must be on the bid form prepared by Remington and Vernick Engineers, in the manner designated therein and required by the specifications, must be enclosed in sealed envelopes bearing the name and address of the bidder on the outside and also bearing on the outside reference to the particular work bid upon. Said bids shall be addressed to Kent Christner, Qualified Purchasing Agent (QPA), 198 North Washington Avenue, Bergenfield, NJ 07621, Third Floor, Finance Office. Each bid shall be accompanied by a certified check, cashier's check or bid bond duly executed by the bidder as principal and having as surety thereon a surety company approved by the Borough of Bergenfield in an amount not less than ten percent (10%) but in no case in excess of $20,000.00 of the amount bid. No interpretations of the meaning of the drawings, specifications or other contract documents will be made to any bidder orally. Every request for such interpretation should be made in writing, addressed to the Engineer, and to be given consideration, must be received at least ten (10) days prior to the final date fixed for receiving bids. Any and all such interpretations and/or supplemental instructions will be in the form of written addenda to the specifications, which if issued, will be issued in accordance with applicable State Laws.
