Chesapeake College is soliciting responses to a Request for Proposals (RFP) from qualified bidders to provide furnish all necessary labor, material, equipment, and supervision to replace select sidewalks at Chesapeake College Wye Mills Campus. Bidders should direct any questions to Heather Kraus, Accounting Manager at hkraus@chesapeake.edu. Cutoff for questions is July 15, 2024 at 10:00 AM EST. Chesapeake College reserves the right to accept or reject, in whole or in part, any and all proposals submitted, to award contract(s) in whole or in part, and to waive informalities and technicalities if, in its judgment, the best interest of the College may so require. Chesapeake College is seeking qualified bidders licensed by the State of Maryland to furnish all necessary labor, material, equipment, and supervision to Replace Select Sidewalks, at Chesapeake College Wye Mills Campus 1000 College Circle Wye Mills, Md 21679 according to the requirements and specifications as described in this RFP. Three bid should include cost for each of the three phases REMOVE AND REPLACE CONCRETE WHERE INDICATED IN ATTACHED DRAWING a. Demolition i. Contractor is responsible for acquiring Miss Utility locate. Chesapeake College will locate all privately owned utilities. ii. Concrete to be removed shall be saw cut a minimum of three inches through the joint of the adjacent slab iii. Demolition shall be done in manner to avoid damage to the slabs that are to remain in place. 1. Contractor shall take care to avoid damage and spalling of adjacent slabs due to inefficient demolition methods. 2. Damage to existing slabs caused by contractor demolition shall be repaired and/or replaced (at the contracting officer's discretion) at no additional cost to the college. iv. Contractor shall avoid damage to existing structures, vegetation, private and College owned property v. Contractor shall employ measures to protect existing concrete pads and structures from staining or damage caused by machinery (tire marks from spinning), portland stains from over-pour and screening, staining from sawcut residue, etc. vi. Contractor is responsible for pedestrian and traffic control throughout all phases of the project. Coordination is required through building management personnel for all closures. vii. All demolition material shall be removed from the college premises on the day that it is excavated. 1. Contractor shall not store demolition spoil on site b. Concrete Placement/Finishing i. Replace all removed concrete with an approved concrete mix design that incorporates the following 1. No less than 3,000 PSI @ 28 days 2. Mix shall be a 4" slump +- 1" 3. Mix design should employ a minimum 5% Air entrainment 4. Contractor shall use welded wire mesh. 5. Concrete will have a brushed finish. 6. Sidewalk will be 6'x6'x4" ii. Saw cut Joints 1. Joints shall be saw cut at the earliest practical point to avoid raveling and not to exceed 24 hours 2. Joints shall be 1/4 inch wide by a depth no less than 1/4 of the installed pad depth. 3. Full depth joint with expansion material at each 25'.
