Renovation of a library in Hastings, Nebraska. Completed plans call for the renovation of a library.
**As of September 17, 2024 this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established. Brief description of project: The City of Hastings is soliciting proposals from qualified Contractors to replace the roofing over the Hastings Public Library located at 314 N Denver Ave, Hastings NE. Each bid shall be accompanied by a certified check, drawn on a solvent bank in the State of Nebraska, or a bid bond in an amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the total bid of all contract construction costs, made payable to the City Treasurer of the City of Hastings, Nebraska, as security that the bidder to whom the contract may be awarded will enter into a contract to build all the improvements in accordance with this notice and give bond in the sum hereinafter provided for the construction of improvements. No bid shall be withdrawn after opening of bids without the consent of the City of Hastings, Nebraska, for a period of sixty (60) days after scheduled time of closing bids. Time is of the essence in this contract. In evaluating bid(s) received, the City will consider the timelines of completion of prior construction contracts, existing workload of bidders and available manpower that bidder commits to the project. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond in the sum of the full amount of the Contract within ten (10) days of the date of award. No additional time will be allowed the Contractor for providing the Performance Bond. a. Replacement area is approximately 10,900 SF. b. Contractor to confirm system meets all local building code requirements c. Roof construction shall be rated for a Severe Hail level of resistance d. The roof covering shall be designed for a Wind Speed rating of 90mph in accordance with the International Building Code e. The completed roof installation is to have a Class A fire classification meeting ASTM E108 f. This project will be a tear-off and re-roof. g. Remove existing adhered EPDM and coverboard according to manufacturer's recommendations. h. Remove and replace tapered insulation in areas where damaged or wet. New insulation shall be aligned with existing insulation in thickness and in slope. i. Dispose of removed roofing materials appropriately. j. Install new 1/2-inch polyiso coverboard and fully-adhered 60 mm EPDM membrane according to manufacturer's recommendations. k. Reflash all vents, stacks, drains, roof curbs, perimeter parapet walls, etc. l. Repair existing stop/cap flashing, or, if necessary, fabricate and install new 24-gauge perimeter sheet metal gravel stop/cap flashing. Upon completion of the installation, an inspection shall be conducted by a technical representative. n. The EPDM roofing system shall have a warranty period of 15 years from the date of completion. The warranty shall be without monetary limitation in which the manufacturer agrees to repair or replace components of the membrane roofing system that fail in material or workmanship within the specified period, failure includes roof leaks. The condition of failure shall be based upon industry standards that would normally be deemed as failure. The attached drawings of the original construction are for information purposes only
