The EC's 5th Floor is one of six floors within AlexRenew's administrative building. When the EC was initially constructed, the first, second, third, fourth, and sixth floors were built-out. The entire approximately 11,600-square-foot 5th floor was left unfinished, with the intent of building it out at a later date. The construction of EC 5th Floor Buildout Project includes architectural, plumbing, fire suppression, mechanical, electrical, and fire alarm scope. The architectural scope includes demolition (limited), doors, gypsum board/metal stud framed partitions, finishes, casework, raised access flooring, and demountable partitions. The intent of this Invitation to Apply for Prequalification (IPQ) process (Procurement) is for the City of Alexandria Sanitation Authority, d/b/a as AlexRenew to identify qualified General Contractors with successful experience in the in the construction of facilities similar to the Environmental Center (EC) 5th Floor Buildout Project. This Prequalification is for General Contractors only. Prequalification Applications will NOT be accepted from subcontractors. Established in 1952 by the Virginia Water and Waste Authorities Act, AlexRenew's mission is to clean wastewater to protect public health and Alexandria's waterways. AlexRenew is governed by a fivemember citizen Board of Directors and is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia. AlexRenew serves more than 300,000 people in the City of Alexandria and parts of Fairfax County, Virginia. It currently maintains capital assets valued at approximately $1.2 billion and treats approximately 38 MGD (up to 116 MGD during wet weather) of wastewater at its WRRF, located in Alexandria, Virginia. The estimated construction cost for the 5th Floor Buildout is $3,000,000 and scheduled to be complete by April 2025. Notice to Proceed for construction is anticipated in October 2024.
