The City of Indianola Parks and Recreation Department is requesting bids for repainting the entire surface area of both pools and sealant repair at the Indianola Veteran's Memorial Aquatic Center. Any questions regarding this process are to be directed to Afton Bradley, Recreation Coordinator, by calling 515.961.9420 or via email abradley@indianolaiowa.gov The City of Indianola Parks and Recreation Department is requesting bids for repainting the entire surface area of both pools and sealant repair at the Indianola Veteran's Memorial Aquatic Center with the listed minimum requirements. If your proposal and installation does not match the minimum requirements, please provide a list of differences along with your bid. A. Cleaning and Prepping Both Small and Large Pool Surface Areas: Approximately 19,200 square feet of concrete substrate will be cleaned by using a combination of shotblast machine and sandblast machine. The shotblast machine will remove the dirt and contaminants on the horizonal floor areas, sand brush blasting on verticals and steep areas, and the blue substrate (perimeter and island) will be pressure washed for full preparation as required by coating manufacturer to properly install their material. After the shot and sand blast and pressure wash is complete, the remaining shot will be removed from the jobsite. Excluded in this preparation, are the drains. B. Repaint Small and Large Pool (floor, sides, and perimeter): the substrate will then be coated with two coats of Tnemec 66 epoxy or equivalent. After the first coat has cured, a second coat will be applied. Both coats will be installed at approximately 250 sf per gallon as directed by the manufacturer. The system will be required to cure for 48 hours prior to allowing traffic back into the area and minimum 7 days prior before submersing. All Blue (perimeter, island, and blue geyser), Black (striping, crosses, deep-end outline, stairs and free throw line), and White painted surfaces will be repainted in their existing locations. The colors will match as close as possible to the existing. C. Paint Non-skid surface: on gutter wall top surface, submerged steps, and pool floors up to a water depth of 16 inches, and all paint surface on pool deck. Broadcast dry 50 mesh silica sand on the surface of the first coat while it is still tacky, or mix sand in second coat, at a rate of 5 pounds per gallon of paint. D. Sealant Repair: will remove all existing pool joint sealant, lightly grind the joint edges to remove loose residual sealant and place a new Pecora Poly Sulfide sealant or equivalent type of sealant. The sealant color will be white or gray. Primers will be used as directed by the product manufacturer based on substrate type. E. Furnish and install all necessary labor, materials, equipment, supervision, and insurance. F. Project will be completed by Wednesday, April 30, 2025. The City of Indianola reserves the right to accept or reject any or all quotes.
