This is a service / maintenance or supply contract in Ontario, California. Contact the soliciting agency for additional information.
The City desires to obtain the services of multiple licensed professional organizations to provide on-call architectural services on an as-needed basis for the design and construction of the Ontario Museum of History and Arts, North Wing Galleries and Entry Area, Gem of the Foothills Renovation, "Jail", and Elevator/Electrical upgrades. Qualified firms shall be knowledgeable and responsive professional consulting firms that possess the museum expertise and resources needed to assist the City staff in achieving the City's adopted goals and objectives. The City desires to work with firms that would maintain positive working relationships with all City staff as well as other consultants; possess the ability to think through project issues and recommend possible solutions early in the process on regulatory, technical, administrative and managerial levels; coordinate and accomplish small and large tasks in a well-organized manner; communicate effectively in a museum setting; and are enthusiastic about working as a team with museum staff. The primary project to be addressed will be the North Wing Galleries and Museum entry area. The galleries need to be redesigned to allow for greater flexibility with changeover between multiple exhibits, wayfinding, and to update the spaces to best standards. This includes reconceptualizing the entry area, moving the exhibits prep room, redesign of a front desk/entry and redesign of an adjacent space that currently houses the Museum Store. A longer-term goal of the Museum is to update its hallmark permanent history exhibit Gem of the Foothills by the time of the Museum's fifty-year anniversary, coming up in 2029. This exhibit space has not been touched since the early aughts and will require a full renovation to effectively enhance a new reinstallation of the permanent exhibit, allowing for flexibility in changing objects and themes within the exhibit. Major upgrades will also be needed for lighting, flooring, and HVAC. In addition, secondary projects may include the Museum "jail" and full electrical upgrades to the main building, which would allow for the eventual installation of an elevator. The Museum currently utilizes the former Ontario Police Jail located directly across the street as storage space. The intent is to expand and reconstruct this space to allow for multiple uses in addition to storage such as office, classroom and/or exhibition space but to do so, the building needs to be brought up to code to occupy the space. Electrical upgrades are needed at the main building in order to allow for construction of an elevator to connect the basement, first and second floors of the Museum. Currently, the building operates at maximum capacity and would require an electrical upgrade. Project Duration Three-year term with two optional one year terms Online Q&A Yes Q&A Deadline 07/16/2024 2:00 PM (PDT) The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
