Renovation of an educational facility in Morgantown, West Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
West Virginia University on behalf of its Board of Governors ("BOG") located in Morgantown, West Virginia ("WVU" or "University") is initiating this Request for Bids ("RFB") from qualified, experienced, and licensed Contractors to provide labor, materials, equipment and services for a phased sequence project to construct an exterior vestibule and the renovation of the existing vestibule and door way area near the pedestrian bridge of Percival Hall. Substantial Completion shall be January 1, 2025 Final Completion shall be January 15, 2025 Question Deadline 07/24/2024 at 12:00 PM ET Questions MUST be submitted directly on the solicitation website on the Q&A Board. The Contractor shall achieve Substantial and Final Completion of the entire Work as calculated or indicated above. The date of issuance of the West Virginia University's Notice to Proceed or Executed Agreement shall be used to calculate Substantial and Final Completion of contract time stated in number of consecutive calendar days or established date. Time is of the essence. Liquidated Damages shall be Five Hundred Dollars ($500) per Calendar Day of delay in achieving Substantial Completion and Two Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($250) per Calendar Day of delay in achieving Final Completion. West Virginia University ("WVU") is soliciting qualified Contractors for a two-phase project at Percival Hall located on the WVU Evansdale Campus in Morgantown, WV. Phase One of the project shall consist of the following: 1. Demolish the two existing fire-rated interior doors located in the masonry walls. 2. Furnish and install new fire-rated doors, frames, and hardware. a. Change the swings on the doors. 3. Restore, patch, and paint adjacent surfaces to match existing. 4. Revise emergency exit signage accordingly. 5. The construction of a new exterior vestibule per the drawings and specifications provided by Alpha Associates to include but not necessarily be limited to: a. Demolition b. Concrete c. Masonry d. Miscellaneous metals e. Carpentry f. Insulation g. Roofing and sheet metal h. Aluminum doors, hardware, and glass i. Finishes j. HVAC k. Electrical l. Fire alarm m. Rough-in for door access n. Final cleaning and repair of disturbed landscaping of the construction area. Phase Two of the project shall consist of the following: 1. Removal of exterior aluminum doors at the bridge entrance and replace with matching aluminum windows, including associated framing. 2. Stone panel veneer and necessary sealants 3. Demolition 4. Finishes 5. Electrical 6. Fire alarm and sprinkler modifications, including the installation of new sprinkler heads in the vestibule ceiling. 7. Removal of the existing interior vestibule doors and trim out openings. 8. Removal of the existing fire alarm and door access controls. 9. Patch and paint as necessary. 10. Removal of the existing floor covering in the vestibule. 11. Final cleaning of the construction area. Alternate Provide an alternate cost for all work associated with the exposed slab after the demolition and removal of the existing bridge. If the bridge is demolished, the Successful Bidder shall construct the detail as noted on sheet A302 to conceal the edge of the precast slab, including the waterproofing and the installation of a railing section to partition off the exterior terrace. Work by Others WVU will directly contract with other suppliers for the Work noted below, therefore the Successful Bidder shall not include costs for the following in their submission: 1. Asbestos abatement of bulkhead ceiling, floor tile, and mastic to the extent directed by the Successful Bidder to facilitate the removal and replacement of the door openings in the Lobby. 2. Demolition of the bridge, landscaping repairs at the bridge. 3. Installation of new floor coverings at interior doors, existing vestibule, and new vestibule. 4. Door access control at new vestibule. WVU will engage Verizon and Convergint to relocate the existing door access controls and associated wiring. The Successful Bidder's electrician shall create the necessary pathways at the new vestibule for these contractors and prepare the new exterior doors for electronic hardware. Convergint will furnish and install only the electrified hardware items at the new vestibule. The Successful Bidder's door supplier shall provide the remaining hardware and prepare the doors & frames accordingly. 5. Remove and re-setting of the animal display above the bridge entry vestibule, as necessary, to facilitate installation of sprinkler heads during Phase Two. 6. Furnish and install new signage.
