The City of Irving is seeking proposals from art professionals to paint an original mural in Irvings Heritage District that will beautify the city and build on Irvings efforts to increase public art for economic and community development. This mural project is specific to multiple walls surrounding a bridge located at 188 N. OConnor Rd, totaling 5,113 sq. ft, that acts as an entrance into the Irving Heritage District. Question Cut Off Date 9/5/2024 12:00:00 PM (CT) SCOPE OF WORK: The scope of work for this project will be further negotiated with the selected artist or artists collective, with a primary emphasis on the following components: 1. Artist is to provide the City of Irving with an original mural on (4) walls totaling 5,113 sq. ft (DART East Wall- 1,535 sq. ft, DART West Wall- 1,373 sq. ft, Tall Retaining Wall-1,810 sq. ft, and Short Retaining Wall-395 sq. ft) located at 188 N. O'Connor Rd. in the Irving Heritage District. 2. The mural should be designed keeping in mind that the objective of the mural is to welcome people to the Irving Heritage District, creating a sense of destination while celebrating the area. The final design of the mural will be heavily influenced by the artist's initial proposal, but subject to modifications based on staff and community input. The city would like the mural to have continuity; however, if the mural touches different focal points or has different pieces on each wall while maintaining the theme, that is acceptable. 3. The walls of the mural must be prepped prior to installation of the mural. The city anticipates the mural being sealed with a graffiti resistant sealant after the mural is completed, but also welcomes other sealing recommendations. The artist's proposal should include a detailed description of their priming and sealing plan, referencing specific products for both processes (including pricing for a graffitiresistantsealantshould the city electto require thistype ofsealant). 4. The City plans to power wash, repair concrete cracks and broken pieces in the retaining wall and fill applicable areas during the Summer of 2024. However, the artist must plan to perform any additional work identified in their priming plan before the mural installation. If the artist plans to use elastomeric or exterior paint for priming, this should be listed as an optional add on item in the proposal's payment schedule, as the City may choose to complete this task prior to the artist beginning the project
