Saving Project...

Demolition, site work and renovation of a transportation facility in Baltimore, Maryland. Completed plans call for the demolition of a transportation facility; for the renovation of a transportation facility; and for site work for a transportation facility.

As of November 20, 2024, this project has not yet been awarded. The project is expected to be awarded on January 29, 2025. https://www.bizjournals.com/baltimore/news/2024/10/30/southwest-airlines-bwi-portland-seattle-san-jose.html Southwest Airlines Co. will fly to six new destinations out of Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport in 2025, the carrier announced Wednesday. Southwest (NYSE: LUV) is adding nonstop, redeye service from Portland, Seattle and San Francisco, plus three other California cities: Ontario, Long Beach and San Jose. Portland and Seattle will be daily, seasonal additions for summer 2025. The new flights add to Southwest's recent redeye expansion and policy changes, which were spurred in part by the airline's months-long fight with an activist investor. Southwest, BWI Airport's largest airline, will begin offering the flights June 5. “These new flights will foster tourism and business development for our state and region,” said Ricky Smith, CEO of BWI Airport, in a statement. “We are working to enhance the travel product for our customers while creating more opportunities for air service from our airline partners.” Some of the new flights are bringing back service to cities that were once served nonstop by Southwest. Seattle, for example, ran briefly as a seasonal, Saturday-only flight this past summer, BWI Communications Director Jonathan Dean confirmed. Southwest last flew daily to San Jose in 2020, and to Portland as a weekend-only service in 2019. The airline has not served San Francisco International Airport nonstop since at least 2000, Dean added. The expanded service comes amid a flurry of changes at the airline under pressure from Florida-based activist investor Elliott Investment Management LP. Southwest announced earlier this year it was adding redeye service to Baltimore from Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Sacramento and San Diego. In July, the airline also announced it was shifting from its long-standing open seating model to assigned seating. Southwest has also made changes to its rewards program and is updating its cabin features. The company struck a deal with Elliott last week that included changes to the board to avoid a proxy fight. The six West Coast destinations are part of an industry-wide rebound of leisure travel from the pandemic slump. While airlines have added new service to warmer places like Sarasota, Florida, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia, they have dropped hundreds of flights to cities like Detroit, Chicago and Philadelphia. BWI Airport is Southwest's busiest East Coast flight hub, with more than 18 million passengers flying Southwest to and from Baltimore in 2023. The airport also set new monthly and yearly passenger records over the summer. It's not just passenger traffic that's growing at BWI; the airport is growing, too. Plans for a 200-room hotel at the airport were revived early this year after a pandemic pause, and a $452 million renovation of its A/B concourse is still underway. --------------------------------- Questions Due August 9, 2024, at 1:00:00 PM If there should be any questions regarding this contract, please contact: Ms. Kareen Davis Procurement Officer, Office of Procurement and Materials Management, Maryland Aviation Administration., Kdavis1@bwiairport.com 410-859-7792 The work under this contract includes the systemic renovation of Concourses DX-DY including HVAC, electrical, lighting, ceilings, and miscellaneous activities to support these renovations.
