The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), Water Resources Division (WRD), Dam Safety Unit (DSU), is seeking Professional technical assistance for dam safety permit application review including review of geotechnical, structural, hydraulic, hydrologic, and general civil site design; development and review of emergency action plans; and development of training and outreach materials. EGLE-WRD receives dam safety permit applications for proposed projects impacting dams regulated under Part 315, Dam Safety. Permitted activities include construction of new dams, enlargement of a dam or an impoundment, repair of a dam, alteration of a dam, removal of a dam, abandonment of a dam, and reconstruction of a failed dam. The DSU is charged with reviewing the permit application materials and determining if a permit can be issued for the project as proposed, if a permit can be issued for the project if modified, or if the project cannot be modified such that a permit can be issued, and the application must be denied. Significant technical review is necessary to facilitate permit issuance decisions.
