The County of Burke reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids not deemed to be in the best interest of the County, to cancel the RFP in part or in its entirety, or to waive irregularities. All bidders must possess a valid North Carolina General Contractors License and must submit proof of licensure with bid information Work will consist of the removal of stream debris, which impede stream flow or navigation as determined by the Project Inspector. Only leaning or undermined trees and/or debris that have entered the stream shall be removed. Leaning or undermined trees shall be cut and removed leaving the stumps intact to protect the streambank. Sediment should not be removed from the stream. Debris shall be loaded onto trucks and hauled to designated disposal sites. Disposal piles will be condensed and stacked to prevent slippage or tumbling over. Stack height must be maintained no higher than twelve feet. Work should be completed in a manner that minimizes impact on the surrounding environment. When work is finished, all disturbed areas must be seeded with an appropriate seed mixture, soil amendments and properly mulched. Any actions outside of this scope of work that will require additional permits and are not allowed.
