Site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Lake Forest, Illinois. Working plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

A high priority bridge repair as identified in the 2020 comprehensive bridge report. Repairs are all anticipated to be within the right-of-way related to the bridge structure, abutments, and the channel directly below the bridge. See PW-RDB-03-22 for design. This project was originally funded in FY2024, but the project full amount is being re-budgeted in FY2025 according to current Finance policy due to the fact that the construction has not begun yet. This project was originally budgeted with MFT funds but is being changed to local capital funds due to additional design-costs and extended timelines related to the approval process for MFT. It is proposed to construct this bridge the same time as the Lake-Woodbine Bridge (see PW-RDB-12-23) in order to combine the road-closures with the two projects into a single construction-season. This project is included in the city's 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Per owner, design is complete, and a design team has been identified. They are waiting a few years to bid with another project. As of July 24, 2025,this project is going out to bid is September 2025, A firm construction timeline has not been determined; however could start Spring 2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
