Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Saint Augustine Beach, Florida. Working plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; and for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel.
As of September 19, 2024, an engineer has been selected and design is complete. It is anticipated construction will start in summer 2025, and end late 2027. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to replace the King Street Bridge over the San Sebastian River, beginning summer 2025. The proposed bridge will include two 11 ft. travel lanes, one 11 ft. turn lane, 10 ft. sidewalk on northside of bridge and 6 ft. sidewalk on the southside of the bridge. Upgraded aesthetic lighting and bridge rail will also be installed as part of this project. A detour will be necessary for the during of the project while crews complete demolition work and build the replacement bridge.
