Renovation and addition to a museum in Gainesville, Florida. Completed plans call for the addition of a 17,000-square-foot museum; and for the renovation of a 3,000-square-foot museum.

As of August 23, 2024, RFI answers have been released by the construction manager. The new addition will house public functions including the lobby, retail, gallery and renovated classrooms. Total square footage is approximately 17,000 sf, including renovation spaces and the 3000sf Denny Gallery which will receive only new flooring, paint, and selective finishes as shown in the drawings. The existing roadway location will not be moved. Utility and site work will be minimized, as will new mechanical equipment. The Earth Systems Addition at the Florida Museum of Natural History will include the following spaces: New museum entry, lobby and ticketing desk New exhibit experience (TESI Gallery) Light renovation (floor and walls) of existing Denny Gallery New retail space and associated storage Renovated Multi-Purpose room with flat floor, and associated storage New catering pantry for food preparation and warming (not cooking) New public restrooms New BOH spaces to serve new and renovated spaces Outdoor spaces adjacent to new addition, including covered picnic area Scope of Work: Selective Demolition, Concrete, Steel, Casework, Thermal and Moisture Protection, Roofing, Insulation, Doors, Glazing, Framing, Stucco, Flooring, Painting, Specialties, Operable Partitions, Window Treatments, Fire Protection, Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Communications, Security, Sitework, Landscaping. Construction is expected to start first quarter 2025 and take 16 months to complete.
