Renovation of a municipal facility in Tucson, Arizona. Working plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

Questions Due: August 9, 2024 5:00pm Arizona Time PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Scope of work includes the replacement of (1) air handler unit (AHU) with the addition of an economizer, with existing AHU controls to be replaced. Modifications to the existing hydronic piping to be included. Existing duct alterations to be kept to a minimum. Pipe fitting insulation, HVAC duct seam tape, expansion joints, duct seam mastic contain asbestos material abatement will be required. The air handling unit will necessitate modifications to the existing fire alarm system. Fire alarm integration items include, but are not limited to, air handling unit shutdown (both fans) and operation of the new fire/smoke dampers at the unit inlet and outlet (not within the scope of this design package). This project will also include 2 alternates for separate contractor pricing. Alternate #1 involves the removal of 2 abandoned in place boilers and associated flue and piping. To ensure optimal efficiency and potentially reduce project costs (Alternate #2), the State seeks bids for construction schedules that prioritize milder climate months. Alternate #2 involves providing temporary cooling, heating, and ventilation via a rental air handler to be used while the building system is out of service. This project will require the contractor to remove existing air handler unit (AHU). Provide new air handling units fabricated and shipped according to a delivery schedule defined by the ADOA. Unit will be complete including equipment and accessories as described with design package specifications and equipment schedules and carry a 2-year warranty. Fabricate and ship units in multiple sections as indicated on the drawings and as required by shipping limitations to facilitate rigging and installation. The most constraining portion of the installation pathway is believed to be on the order of 70"x80". Contractor shall field verify and communicate to the AHU manufacture all concerned site constraints. The manufacturer shall select AHU arrangements, shipping splits, and knockdown construction requirements to allow passage within these constraints. Contractor shall be responsible for all labor associated with the disassembly and reassembly of the air handling unit. Ductwork cleaning and new filter will be in place prior to any operation of units. The contractor will provide the services of a factory authorized service technician to assist the installing contractor with startup services and instruct the contractor and owner's personnel in the maintenance and use of the equipment. Contractor will provide double wall construction with a minimum 16-gauge exterior and 20-gauge interior. Panels to be bolted standing seam. Contractor shall field test each air handling unit for leakage per the requirements described in specifications and drawings. Also testing, adjusting and balancing will be required.
