Reference Number 0000275754 Question Acceptance Deadline 2024/08/20 02:00:00 PM EDT The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry (Schulich) is Embarking on a Space Master Planning Exercise to Ensure That Its Facilities Meet the Evolving Needs of Its Students, Faculty, and Research Enterprise. As the School Continues to Grow in Both Size and Scope, It Becomes Imperative to Reassess and Optimize the Use of Its Physical Spaces. This Comprehensive Planning Effort Will Encompass Several Key Buildings, Including the Dr. Don Rix Clinical Skills Learning Building (Csb), Dental Science Building (Dbs) Health Sciences Addition (Has), Kresge Building (Kb), Molecular Biology Laboratory (Mbl), Medical Sciences Building, Western Centre for Public Health and Family Medicine (Phfm), Robarts Research Institute (Rri) and Siebens-drake Research Institute (Sdri). By Focusing on These Facilities, the School Aims to Create a Cohesive and Efficient Environment That Supports Its Mission of Excellence in Education, Research, and Clinical Care. A Full Analysis of the Western Centre for Public Health and Family Medicine and the Robarts Research Institute is Not Required. They Are Included in the Scope to Capture All of the Key Facilities That Schulich Occupies. The Emergent Program for the Proposed Bioconvergence Centre Identifies Schulich Core Research Facilities That Are Expected to Relocate to That Facility. The Bioconvergence Centre Functional Program Will Be Shared With the Successful Proponent to Fully Inform the Scope of This Study. This Planning Exercise Will Result in the Development of a Roadmap That Will Be Used to Support Phased Renewal of the Faculty and Enable Optimization of Existing Spaces. Refer to Appendix B for Current Space Plans of the Buildings Listed Above, and Appendix C for a Campus Site Plan Identifying the Location of These Buildings. Future Growth Accommodation: Plan for Spaces That Can Adapt to Future Growth and Changing Needs of the School. Enhanced Learning Environments: Identify Opportunities to Create Modern, Flexible Classrooms and Labs That Support Innovative Teaching Methods and Active Learning. Improved Space Optimization: Develop a Roadmap That Can Assist Leaders With Planning for Optimizing the Use of Administrative, Research and Teaching Spaces and Phased Renewal of Existing Infrastructure. Research Infrastructure Improvement: Upgrade and Expand Research Facilities to Foster Cutting-edge Discoveries and Interdisciplinary Collaboration. Student and Faculty Spaces: Program Dedicated Areas That Promote Wellness, Collaboration, and Engagement Among Students, Faculty, and Staff, and Improve Community Engagement. The Study Will Consider the Academic Planning (Growth Plans) for Schulich, to Include the Buildings Identified in a.3 Background. The First Step Will Be to Conduct a Comprehensive Space Utilization Analysis of the Facilities, Followed by the Development of an Optimization Strategy and Functional Program of Renewal, With a Perspective That is Future-oriented. The Scope Will Include: Recommendations Based on Review of the Existing Facilities Meeting Existing and Emerging Stakeholder Needs and Providing a Scalable Foundation for a Relevant and Sustainable Facility for Schulich; A Programmatic Breakdown of Space-use for the Buildings - Both a Current Snapshot and Future State Based on Needs, Priorities Identified, and Optimizing Space Identification of Programmatic Relationships and Location/co-location Implications; Development of a Phased Renewal Plan to Recommend Short-term Solutions, Long- Term Space Use, Configuration of Space, and Goals for Desired Adjacencies. In Conjunction With the Items Listed Above, the Scope Will Also Consider: Accessibility Health, Safety and Security Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Scalability, Flexibility, Adaptability, and Sustainability Official bid documents must be obtained from www.merx.com and bid submissions must be done through the Merx platform.
