We were established in 1872 and became a member of the state university system in 1967. The University of Toledo and the Medical University of Ohio merged July 2006 to form the third-largest public university operating budget in the state. The University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission. The University offers more than 300 undergraduate, graduate and professional programs with some of our nationally ranked programs including business, engineering, law and occupational therapy. Main Campus features nine modern residence halls, a gothic bell tower, a Student Recreation Center, a state-of the-art classroom center in one of our original buildings, Memorial Field House, opened fall 2008, and a football stadium and new Savage Hall basketball and athletic complex, which opened fall 2008. Project Overview: THE UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO located in Toledo, Ohio, is accepting competitive sealed proposals from qualified companies for a Tunnel Washer to be purchased and installed for the University's Department of Laboratory Animal Resources. The University of Toledo is a State of Ohio funded public academic institution. The information provided herein is intended to assist suppliers to respond properly to this Request for Proposal. The University believes this RFP provides interested suppliers with sufficient information to submit proposals that meet minimum requirements. It is not intended to limit a proposal's content or to exclude any relevant or essential data. Suppliers are encouraged to include additional information that will substantiate their product quality and service capabilities. This project is subject to Build America Buy American requirements. Scope of Service/Project Information: Introduction: The University of Toledo, Department of Laboratory Animal Resources (DLAR) provides care and support for animals utilized in medical, biological, and pharmaceutical research. The tunnel washer allows DLAR to decontaminate, clean, and sanitize the husbandry equipment utilized in the care of these animals. This ensures the safety of our researchers, students, staff, and animals. Project Background: The existing tunnel washer has been discontinued by the manufacturer and has reached the end of its useful life and therefore is being replaced. The selected tunnel washer will meet all requirements stated in section 5.3.1. The selected vendor may be responsible for removal of existing equipment. The selected vendor will be responsible for building the tunnel washer and may be responsible for installation, rigging, and final connections at the University. The funding for this project is provided through a National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) grant awarded to the University. As such, this project must meet the requirements of the Build America Act (BABAA) requirement mandated by Title IX of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act ("IIJA"), Pub. L. 177-58. A statement. 5.3.1 Equipment Requirements: The University's existing tunnel washer is a SMC Tunnel Washer Model # SL1230 - Serial # 07025 (Prewash 48", Wash 78", Rinse 54", Dryer 120", Unload 18", Roller Top Table Addition 8'). The University of Toledo is interested in receiving proposals from the market for a new tunnel washer that are at minimum equivalent in construction, performance, and footprint to the existing tunnel washer. Please note: Below are construction and installation requirements that must be addressed for the respondent's proposal to be acceptable for consideration. 1. Equipment should use non-proprietary components to the greatest extent possible for ease of maintenance and replacement of parts. Respondent proposed tunnel washer MUST be new and come with a minimum of a (1) one year manufacturer warranty. Used and/or refurbished equipment will not be accepted. 2. The belt width must be a minimum of 30". The belt length must be no longer than a maximum of 318". 3. The height of belt opening must be compatible with existing roller top unloading table addition (~40") which will be re-installed onto new tunnel washer. 4. Stop sensor must be provided by vendor for installation on existing roller top unloading table addition. 5. Installation of stainless-steel trim to fully enclose machine may be needed.
