Site work, new construction and renovation of a mixed-use development in Washington, District of Columbia. Completed plans call for the construction of a military facility; and water / sewer project.

The work includes All labor, materials, and equipment necessary to complete the requirements in the contract drawings and specifications to deliver a complete and useable facility for the replacement of an existing 14.5 MG underground water storage tank within its existing footprint. The tank is approximately 612 ft in length and 162 ft in width. There are 2 one-story historic brick buildings, M-6 McMillan Control House (North) and M-20 McMillan Flume Building, located on the roof of the existing clearwell that will be demolished. Following replacement of the clearwell, these brick buildings will be rebuilt in their current locations to match their historic exterior appearance. Reconstruction will be carried out in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, (36 CFR, Part 68). The North Clearwell Drain Valve Operator mechanism will be salvaged from building M-6, restored and reinstalled in an alternate location outside the building as indicated, along with an interpretive panel to be provided by others. The work will include temporary relocation of existing utilities on the roof of the clearwell during construction and reinstallation following the replacement of the clearwell. The existing roof is covered with soil and grass, there is an existing access hatch on the west side of the clearwell to allow construction equipment to gain access into the clearwell. Lateral bracing of the existing walls will be provided from within the tank to support them during installation of the new tank. This lateral bracing of the existing walls along with SOE micropile, columns, struts and whalers will all be a delegated design by the contractor after award. After installation of lateral bracing the roof, columns, and floor of the clearwell will be demolished. Lateral bracing will remain installed until the new roof and floor have been installed. The new tank construction will include a new concrete mat foundation, columns, walls poured against the existing walls, and roof. New concrete baffles will be installed in select areas to direct water from the tank influent to the tank effluent. The work will include the installation of new influent and effluent concrete chambers, and a new concrete drain chamber, slide gates, and actuators (gate operators). A new process chemical and control system will be installed, and a new waterproofing membrane and landscaped grass roof will be installed over the new concrete roof and incidental related work.
