Renovation of a mixed-use development in Rockford, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a theater / auditorium.

This project is a replacement of ASU-2 serving the main auditorium and adjacent support spaces. The existing air handling unit is original to the building and therefore is beyond its useful service life necessitating its replacement. The design includes the installation of a new air handling unit next to the existing air handling unit which will allow for equipment downtime and impacts to occupants to be minimized. The new air handling unit will be connected to the existing geothermal system, and an extensive amount of new ventilation work is scheduled for the basement mechanical room. This project includes two key bid alternates. Alternate 1 pertains to upsizing ductwork serving the first floor office and classroom spaces. Alternate 2 upgrades the domestic hot water system by demolishing an existing gas-fired DHW heater and geothermal loop boosting boiler, and installing a new steam-HHW heat exchanger that will be used to further exchange down to DHW temperatures and provide supplemental heat for the geo loop.
