Site work for a transportation facility in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Completed plans call for site work for a transportation facility.
The project is at the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority's (GCRTA) along the Blue Line (Trunk Line) of the Light Rail system between Ashby Road at the west end and Avalon Road at the east end of the project in Shaker Heights, Ohio. The work involves the rehabilitation of the guardwalls and retaining wall. This project shall include all labor, material, equipment and supervision necessary to complete the job in a workmanlike manner consistent with recognized good practice and latest building codes requirements. 1. The work to be performed will be along the Blue Line (Trunk Line) of the Light Rail system between Ashby Road at the west end and Avalon Road at the east end of the project in Shaker Heights, Ohio. 2. The slopes along the rail line shall be cleared of trash and debris as well as all existing trees 4 inches in diameter and larger and shrub growth down to the level of the existing ground. In addition, all trees of all diameters shall be removed for a 5 foot width as measured from the toe of slope at track level or the top of the lower retaining wall, as shown on the plans. The limits of the clearing shall be from the top of slope along the backside of the guardwalls at the level of Van Aken Boulevard down to the top of the retaining walls or the toe of slope at railroad track level. Drainage weepholes in the retaining walls along the rail line at track level shall be cleared of debris. 3. Backfilling of rodent and/or fox burrows along the slopes of the rail line shall be performed by filling any exposed voids with backfill and seeding the area of excavation as indicated in the plans. 4. The guardwalls along Van Aken Boulevard shall have the areas of existing brick veneer removed and replaced with new cast concrete and thin brick veneer as indicated in the plans. Concrete patching shall be performed on areas of the guardwalls which have delaminated or spalled as indicated in the plans. The tree wells along the guardwalls shall have the metal grates removed, the concrete curb at the tree well and the existing trees or stumps removed. New trees shall be planted in the tree wells as indicated in the plans. 5. The retaining wall at the parking stalls along the westbound side of Van Aken Boulevard near Avalon Road shall have areas of brick veneer removed and replaced with new thin brick veneer as indicated in the plans. Concrete patching shall also be performed on areas of the retaining wall which have delaminated or spalled as indicated in the plans. (a) Bid Guarantee - equivalent to ten percent (10%) of the bid price if provided by cashier's check or money order; or one hundred percent (100%) of the contract amount if provided by bid bond. (b) Performance Bond - in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price. (c) Payment Bond - in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price. Substantial Completion - 210 days after Notice to Proceed - $340 Liquidated Damages/Dollars Per Day Final Completion - 240 days after Notice to Proceed - $250 Liquidated Damages/Dollars Per Day Question Deadline 10/10/2025 All questions should be put in writing to Jonathan Laule at: e-mail: jlaule@gcrta.org. Any explanation desired by a bidder regarding the meaning or interpretation of any portion of this IFB must be requested in writing and received by the GCRTA no later than ten (10) calendar days before bid submission deadline. The GCRTA may reject any bid, all bids, or the sole responsive bid, and may reject any part or parts of bids, or may waive any formality which it deems to be immaterial. The GCRTA may also cancel this solicitation at any time before or after the opening of bids. The GCRTA will not compensate any bidder for costs incurred in preparing bids or providing information required in connection therewith.
