Renovation of a water / sewer project in Andover, Massachusetts. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
Ozone is produced on-site via two (2) generators, which convert liquid oxygen into the gas, which is then carried by a high-pressure water stream and injected into the raw water. The generators were installed as part of the 2005-2007 WTP upgrades and are reaching the end of their useful life, expected to be about 20 years. From discussions with contractors and other Public Water Suppliers, it seems that the expected life cycle of these units holds true. As an example, the Town of Billerica installed the exact same system in 1997, and operated it for 23 years, before replacing it in 2020. In the last two years, the generators have malfunctioned and required significant repairs, resulting in simultaneous downtime of both units As of May 14, 2026, this rpoject is in town's 2026-2030 CIP. It is currently in the conceptual phase. Design work is expected in FY 2027 with construction to follow in FY 2028. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
