The City of Mississauga (City) is seeking proposals from a multi-disciplinary consulting firm for the Cooksville Creek Parkland Strategy. The goal is to develop a 25-year strategy that will guide the future development, parkland management, natural heritage preservation and enhancement of the continuous system of publicly-owned and publicly accessible parkland and natural areas along Cooksville Creek. The study area covers parks along a 16 kilometer segment of the Cooksville Creek, including 57.70 ha (142.58 ac) of City-owned and managed parkland/ natural areas. This strategy will examine issues including, but not limited to: Management of natural areas, guidance on storm water management, park use potential, parkland deficiencies in the downtown growth corridor, trail network completion and connections to existing parks. It will consider the evolving urban context, demographic profile and lifestyle of the area. The strategy will include an implementation plan that will guide the timing and transformation from current conditions of Cooksville Creek to a park that is fully developed and integrated in its context.
