The Building and Safety Standards Branch (BSSB) with the Ministry of Housing is inviting proponents to submit proposals to conduct a comprehensive space and cost impact analysis and develop an illustrated design guide. The report will specifically analyse the space and cost impacts associated with the new seismic and adaptable dwelling requirements in the 2024 BC Codes, including a comparative analysis between the 2024 and 2018 requirements, the cost impacts of the 2024 BC Codes adaptable dwelling requirements versus the costs to renovate. The results of this work will be used to inform the development of an Illustrated Design Guide with floor plans to illustrate efficient and compliant space designs for a new Seismic and Adaptable Dwelling Design Guide that reflects the 2024 BC Code's Subsection 3.8.5. Adaptable Dwelling Unit Requirements and Subsection 4.1.8., Section 9.23. with a focus on Part 4, and Appendix C for Seismic Requirements The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time The estimated contract period will be 8 month(s).
