Demolition, remodeling and renovation of a military facility in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Completed plans call for the remodel of a military facility.
All questions should be submitted no later than 29 April 2025 @ 2:00 PM Located in Brevard County Florida, Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS) is an installation of the United States Space Force Space Operations Command SLD 45. CCSFS is the primary launch head of United States Eastern Range with numerous active launch pads. Launches support unique DoD and national interest missions. Due to increased use of leased launch pads by private companies such as United Launch Alliance (Complexes SLC-37 and SLC-41), Space X (Complexes SLC-13 and SLC-40), Blue Origin (SLC-36), and Relativity Space (SLC-15), the launch support operations at CCSFS are expected to increase to a level not previously experienced. The Weather Squadron provides mission critical upper air observation and other day-of-launch activities in support of all Eastern Range users. Built in 1957, Building 20185 does not meet the current needs of the Weather Squadron. The facility has inadequate equipment storage space leading to high value, mission critical equipment being stored in administrative space or in a nearby outbuilding. The current HVAC has exceeded its life expectancy, further imperiled essential equipment and reducing staff efficiency. Additionally, the location of Building 20185 is within the anticipated blast damage area of Blue Origin space launches occurring only 1.5 miles away. The proximity to launch operations causes unnecessary safety risks and a lack of productivity due to evacuation of non-essential squadron personnel. Without this project the Weather Squadron will continue to operate from an unsuitable facility located in an area too close to space launch operations. Continued use of Building 20185 creates additional mission related work around tasks and impacts the integrity and reliability of meteorological data. This project will move the Weather Squadron operations farther away from launch operations, increasing safety and efficiency of critical launch support operations. Additionally, a renovated Building 36001 will enhance the mission effectiveness and efficiency.
