Demolition, remodeling and renovation of a military facility in Newport, Rhode Island. Completed plans call for the remodel of a military facility.
The work shall be performed at Building 29, Sims Hall, located on the U.S. Naval War College (NWC) Campus, Naval Station Newport, Newport, RI. This project consist of the following work to be done 1. Walls Walls shall be constructed per the layout provided as shown in Enclosure 2 - "AE103-1 SIMS HALL 3RD FLR PLAN - NEW BASE PLAN". Follow guidance as found in UFGS Section 09 22 00 and UFGS Section 09 29 00, and as clarified below. All walls are nonbearing composite construction interior partitions. a) The framing shall be constructed with galvanized steel studs, 20 gauge minimum, not thinner than 0.0329 inch thickness. b) Studs shall be 3-5/8" width, 1-1/4" depth minimum, spaced 16" O.C. c) Tracks shall be 3-5/8" web with 2" flange, top and bottom. d) One layer of 5/8' X rated (fire resistant) gypsum board on each side of wall. e) No insulation shall be installed between studs. f) The walls shall be attached to the suspended ceiling grid utilizing Armstrong Universal Partition Clips, Pro Products Eliminator Track, or approved equal. The walls shall be tied to the building structure as required. g) Provide alternating stud braces at 4'-0" O.C. to structure above. h) Bottom track shall be attached to the existing flooring. Flooring repairs shall be completed prior to installation of the track. i) Install reinforcement for door openings as shown in Enclosure 7 - Detail C4. j) Ceiling tiles above the wall partitions shall be removable for access. Naval Station Newport has a requirement to make modifications to the Third Floor, Center Wing of Building 29 (Sims Hall) in order to support near future SCI and SAP war gaming events. The project will entail partitioning the 3rd floor of Sims Hall, Center Wing into seven separate rooms. Standard gypsum and steel stud wall construction will be used for the partition walls, as non-demising partitions, tied to the true floor and the suspended ceiling system. The project requires the furnishing and installation of doors, carpeting and wall base. Electrical distribution shall be provided from existing electrical panels to receptacles in the new walls and in the existing columns throughout the third floor providing electrical service to the interiors of these spaces.
