Demolition, site work, remodeling and renovation of a military facility in Patuxent River, Maryland. Completed plans call for the remodel of a military facility.
NAVFAC D/B B2100 Reconstruct EMP Tow-Way, NAS PAX River, MD This project will include the reconstruction of the electromagnetic pulsar (EMP) Tow-way on Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River in Patuxent River, Maryland. The EMP Tow-way is an RDT&E facility that has exceeded its design life cycle and mission requirements. A full reconstruct is required to meet mission critical testing. Reconstruction includes site preparation and improvements (demolition, excavation, grading, fill material, subgrade stabilization, and temporary pavement markings) and installation of a functioning underdrain system. Intersection fillets will be reconstructed to meet current mission requirements and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC). This project is to reconstruct approximately 12,764 square yards (SY) of asphaltic concrete (AC) pavement from the connection at Taxiway Alpha to the opening of the cul-de-sac. See attachment in Part 6 for limits of demolition. As part of the project and new testing requirements, the bend shall be designed and constructed with a larger width, exceeding the existing footprint. This will allow new aircraft with wider wheel bases to navigate the tow-way. The widening amount shall be determined by the AE design team. The intention is to accommodate a 757.
