The Josh Birmingham Cell Lot and Bypass Project at Charlotte Douglas International Airport will provide an additional lane for Cell Phone Lot #1 on Josh Birmingham Parkway. This includes construction of a modular precast block wall, traffic control, erosion and sedimentation control, grading, drainage, construction of curb and gutter, landscaping, relocation of light and banner poles, asphalt paving, fencing, and signage. This project will also include two distinct improvements to existing Airport Beacon Lane to provide a secondary access route to the terminal for commercial vehicles. The project will construct a bypass lane around the inspection canopy at field gate TM-1080 and provide a controlled access lane south of the existing taxi lot which will provide access to the lower level of the Terminal. An access gate at the bulb near the canopy at gate 1080 will be installed to allow for emergency vehicles to access the upper level of the terminal when needed. The portion of the project along Airport Beacon Lane includes construction of a dual automatic gate arm system, two manual cantilever sliding gates, traffic control, erosion and sedimentation control, grading, drainage, construction of curb and gutter, asphalt paving, pavement markings, fencing, and signage.
