As of November 11, 2025, a design/build firm has been selected. Construction is anticipated to begin in late winter, pause temporarily, and resume in summer 2026. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The Eastway Residence Hall Complex consists of (4) Residence Halls with a central Dining/Student Life Building. This project is limited to the (4) Residence Halls -Allyn, Clark, Manchester and Fletcher. These buildings were originally constructed in the late 1950s. In 2006, the antiquated toilet exhaust system was replaced with new exhaust fans. From 2013 through 2015, the student rooms upgraded the original convectors to a four-pipe fan coil system to provide air conditioning. Ventilation was provided via operable windows. These buildings have an extremely negative pressurization which has led to high humidity levels. Kent State received a ventilation study from Scheeser Buckley Mayfield, Inc. in December 2022. That report will be provided to the shortlisted DB teams. This project will provide new rooftop units to supply make-up air that addresses ventilation and dehumidification needs. Air will be distributed to the corridors.
