Site work, paving and new construction of a mixed-use development in Florence, Alabama. Completed plans call for the construction of a sidewalk / parking lot; for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; pre-engineered storage facility; pre-engineered storage facility; pre-engineered storage facility; water / sewer project; and water / sewer project.

Scope includes pre-engineered metal buildings and conventional building construction, bleacher seating, storm system, site utilities, site lighting, asphalt and concrete paving, concrete sidewalks, finish grading, landscaping, and as-built surveying within the construction limits of the project for Lauderdale County Agriculture Multipurpose Complex. Foundation installation must commence no later than October 1, 2024. All areas shall be completed by May 29, 2026. A cashier's check or bid bond payable to the Lauderdale County Agriculture Center Authority in an amount not less than five (5%) percent of the amount of the bid, but in no event more than $10,000.00, must accompany the Bidder's bid. Performance and Payment Bonds and evidence of insurance required in the Bidding Documents will be required at the signing of the Contract. Bids must be submitted on bid forms furnished by the Architect or copies thereof. All Bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under the provisions of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama 1975, as amended, and must show evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by the Owner; the Bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying his or her current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the bid is delivered. The Bidder shall also include license number on the bid form. No bid shall be modified, withdrawn, or cancelled by the Bidder after the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids for a period of Sixty (60) Days. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids that do not strictly comply with the requirements of the Bidding Documents, and the Owner reserves the right to waive any technical errors, informalities, and irregularities in any of the Bidding Documents submitted by the Bidder if, in the Owner's judgment, the best interest of the Owner will thereby be promoted. This project is being bid under the provisions of Alabama Act 2013-205, which requires the Contractor to take advantage of the Owner's tax exempt status, obtain necessary certificates and other documentation required from the Alabama Department of Revenue, and to administer the sales and use tax savings portion of the project, as part of their bid. To clarify, this project shall be bid excluding taxes. Nonresident Bidders must accompany any written bid documents with a written opinion of an attorney at law licensed to practice law in such nonresident Bidder's State of domicile, as to the preferences, if any or none, granted by the law of that state to its own business entities whose principal places of business are in that State in the letting of any or all public contracts. Additional qualifications and requirements for General Contractors and Subcontractors are indicated in the Bidding and Contract Documents. The Lauderdale County Agriculture Center Authority seeks to encourage and facilitate greater participation by minority business enterprises in contracts for construction and for the purchase of goods, materials, equipment, or services. For the purposes hereof "minority business" means any business enterprise, whether individually owned, or a partnership, joint venture, or corporation, which is wholly or substantially owned or controlled by black persons or members of some other racial or national minority group, and/or women. Only General Contractors who have been approved to bid pursuant to pre-qualification procedures and criteria established by the Owner will be eligible to bid the project. The pre qualification proposal shall include the latest version of AIA Document A305; a list of successful projects similar to the scope in the Bidding Documents, CY of earthwork, quantity of paving, quantity of utilities installed, SF of PEMB construction, schedule duration, contract amounts, client names, addresses and telephone numbers along with Experience Modification Rate. Completed Pre-qualification submittals shall be submitted to Volkert, Inc., via email at the address above, no later than 4:00 p.m. local time, on Thursday, July 25, 2024. General Contractors must demonstrate successful completion of similar projects delivered on time for satisfied Owners.
