Saving Project...

Renovation of a municipal facility in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

A description of the work of this project can be summarized to include: o RTU-1 - The existing equipment is an indirect gas fired duct furnace with a modulating outside air intake damper and a modulating return air damper. Relief air is accomplished by a nearby roof mounted exhaust fan. The supply airflow rate is 4000 CFM and the natural gas heating capacity is 288 MBH output. This equipment has no cooling capability and no existing electrical infrastructure to support cooling. Replacement equipment will have natural gas fired heating and controls compatible with the existing controls infrastructure in the building. RTU-2 - The existing equipment is an indirect gas fired duct furnace with a modulating outside air intake damper and a modulating return air damper. Relief air is accomplished by a nearby roof mounted exhaust fan. The supply airflow rate is 2200 CFM and the natural gas heating capacity is 162 MBH output. This equipment has cooling DX cooling with a unit mounted coil and a roof mounted 5-ton nominal condensing unit. Replacement equipment will be a similar rooftop unit with DX cooling and an associated air-cooled condenser, natural gas fired heating, and controls compatible with the existing controls infrastructure in the building. RTU-3 - This equipment is almost identical to RTU-1 and the replacement scope is the same. Cooling Tower - The existing equipment is original to the building which was built in 1978. The manufacturer of this equipment is still in business but they no longer make this model so the replacement equipment design will require adaptation to the existing supports. The existing cooling tower provides heat rejection for the building water source heat pump system. The condenser water system has a plate and frame heat exchanger in the basement to hydraulically isolate the condenser water streams. The heat exchanger was replaced recently as the original system would have had a shell and tube exchanger. The plate and frame exchanger is in excellent condition. The condenser water system is designed with a remote sump which is located in the basement. This means the cooling tower basin currently never holds water. The design of the replacement will use the same configuration to avoid adding operating weight to the new tower thus increasing structural loads. The new cooling tower has been specified as fiberglass due to weight and existing structure constraints Plans, specifications, proposal forms and other information are on file for examination at the following locations: State of Idaho Division of Public Works, 502 N. 4th St., Boise, ID 83702 (208) 332-1900 , Blueprint Specialties, 6205 W.
