Site work, paving and renovation of a mixed-use development in Oakland, California. Completed plans call for paving for a road / highway; for site work for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; water / sewer project; and for the renovation of a water / sewer project.

Major work scope includes the following: replacement of four grit dewatering classifiers, a grit hopper, lighting at the Grit Dewatering Building (Grit DWB), four reactor drain pumps, a reactor aerator at the Reactors; improvements to the grit dewatering loading area, Reactor gallery drains, reactor drain suction header, piping at the Aerated Grit Tanks; rehabilitation of Grit DWB structure; addition of a washdown diversion structure at the Fats, Oils, Grease (FOG) Receiving Station, flush line from Blend Tanks, sumps at Reactor Gallery, flush connections at the Primary Sedimentation Gallery, east loading provisions, and classifier ventilation header at the Grit DWB, flowmeters, and pressure gauges at various locations. Estimated Cost: $9,000,000 to $10,500,000 The construction of this work takes place at a 24/7 operation wastewater treatment plant, and all work is as described in these Drawings and Specifications. Some of the work is only to occur within limited dry weather construction windows, between April 15th and October 1st, of each year for approximately two years starting in 2025. Major work scope includes the following: replacement of four grit dewatering classifiers, a grit hopper, lighting at the Grit Dewatering Building (Grit DWB), four reactor drain pumps, a reactor aerator at the Reactors; improvements to the grit dewatering loading area, Reactor gallery drains, reactor drain suction header, piping at the Aerated Grit Tanks; rehabilitation of Grit DWB structure; addition of a washdown diversion structure at the Fats, Oils, Grease (FOG) Receiving Station, flush line from Blend Tanks, sumps at Reactor Gallery, flush connections at the Primary Sedimentation Gallery, east loading provisions, and classifier ventilation header at the Grit DWB, flowmeters, and pressure gauges at various locations. This project will require multiple trades and disciplines; for example: demolition, saw-cutting, concrete coring, hazardous materials handling, grading, excavation, shoring, fill, concrete, rebar, waterproofing, roofing, painting, industrial coatings, structural steel, bolting, welding, mechanical, electrical, pipeline, plumbing, crane equipment, handrails, guardrails, ladders, gratings and railings, fencing, paving, and other required work and trades. Major civil work includes, but is not limited to, the installation of buried piping, working around and protection of existing buried utilities, site improvements, manhole connections, and catch basin installation. Major structural work includes, but is not limited to, modifications to existing structural concrete and steel structures, rehabilitation of roof decking, installation of new canopy structure, replacement of roof hatch, installation of and modifications to walkways and guardrails, installation of and modifications to existing pipe and equipment support. Major mechanical work includes, but is not limited to, replacement or new installations of mechanical equipment described above, pipes, valves, actuators, slide gates, pressure gauges, flowmeters, and safety guards. Major electrical work includes, but is not limited to, removal and installation of motors, electrical conduits, duct banks, light fixtures, starters, disconnect switches, control panels, process instruments, and modifications to controls. The contractor/subcontractor performing the electrical work for this contract is required to be a District pre-qualified electrical subcontractor. See Instructions to Bidders Article 6 for more information. Event Site Walkthrough note: Attendees shall assemble at EBMUD Main Wastewater Treatment Plant (2020 Wake Avenue, Oakland, CA 94607). This is the only time that the Grit Dewatering Building, Reactors, Primary Sedimentation and Aerated Grit Galleries, and FOG Receiving Station will be open for inspection. The inspection will last approximately 2 hours. No photography by the Attendees will be allowed. The District will take photographs, as requested by the Attendees, restricted to the work zone. The District will release photographs to Attendees after the bid walk, pending review by the District. All Attendees are required to have a photo ID and sign a confidentiality agreement not to share, sell, or publish photos You can submit questions pertaining to this project up to ten days prior to the opening of bids, to provide time to issue and forward an addendum should EBMUD consider an addendum necessary.
